Frequently Asked Questions

The Tests

Q: How do I know these tests are any good?

A: Accountests tests are targeted at three levels of accounting and bookkeeping skills, are specific to the country where the candidate will work and are updated annually to keep up with changes to accounting practices and legislation. The accounting tests also measure each candidate against a norm group of similar candidates. Click here to find out more

Q: What do the tests measure?

A: All Accountests tests measure skills and knowledge essential to success in an accounting job. Four accounting subjects are covered in each test and they are specific to the country in which the candidate will work. Click here to find out more.

Q: How do they work?

A: All tests are completed online by participants, who complete a 40 question multiple choice test in 30 minutes. Participants performance in the test is displayed in a report that identifies how well they performed in four core accounting or bookkeeping topics as well as against a norm group of similar people in similar jobs, giving recruiting managers information upon which to base selection decisions. The Process

Q: When in the recruitment process should I use an Accountests test?

A: Traditionally, testing and assessment takes place late in the selection process. However, we recommend Accountests are used early in the selection process because skills and knowledge essential to the role need to be known quickly as they are non-negotiable criteria for selection and our tests are cost-effective enough to be used after first screening of applicants.

Q: Isn’t testing large volumes of applicants expensive?

A: The ‘per candidate’ cost of testing is lower than the combined hourly rate of your interview panel. Not valuing the time of interviewers who could be doing income generating work instead is a common mistake we encounter, especially when you can become an ‘on-account client’ and take advantage of substantial volume discounts.
